The Science & Education Foundation is pleased to announce that, beginning in 2019, its annual International Scientific Events will be held at the Flora Expo Center in Burgas, Bulgaria, situated in the heart of the city's magnificent Sea Garden, just steps away from the Black Sea. The modern exhibition and conference complex offers excellent facilities and an inspiring setting for scientific exchange, international cooperation, and academic networking.
The relocation marks a return to our roots. Having originally organized our conferences in Burgas, followed by many successful editions in the popular seaside resorts of Sunny Beach and Elenite, we are now coming full circle and returning to the city where our scientific gatherings first began. Over the years, these events have welcomed thousands of researchers and academics from around the world, establishing a longstanding tradition of international scientific dialogue.
Burgas is one of Bulgaria's most beautiful and vibrant coastal cities, celebrated for its rich cultural life, welcoming atmosphere, and picturesque seaside surroundings. Its international airport, located just a short drive from the city centre, provides convenient access for participants arriving from abroad. The city's spectacular Sea Garden, among the finest coastal parks in Southeastern Europe, offers lush greenery, elegant promenades, and breathtaking views of the Black Sea. We look forward to welcoming our international scientific community to this exceptional location, combining academic excellence with the natural beauty and hospitality of Burgas.

Prof. Dr. Belarmino Adenso-Díaz from the University of Oviedo Delivers Plenary Lecture at Agriculture & Food 2017
24 June 2017

The 5th International Scientific Conference “Agriculture & Food”, held from 20 to 24 June 2017 at Elenite Holiday Village, Bulgaria, featured a plenary lecture by Prof. Dr. Belarmino Adenso-Díaz from the University of Oviedo, Spain. His presentation, entitled “Crop Planning Under Long Term Supply Agreements”, addressed the application of mathematical optimization and decision-making methods to agricultural production planning.
Prof. Dr. Belarmino Adenso-Díaz is Professor of Operations Management at the Industrial Engineering School of the University of Oviedo. Before pursuing his academic career, he spent seven years working for the Spanish National Steel Company and subsequently held visiting professorships at the Universities of Colorado and Michigan in the United States. He has authored four books and published extensively in leading international scientific journals, including Operations Research, Journal of Operations Management, Production and Operations Management, and European Journal of Operational Research. He also serves as Associate Editor of the Journal of Heuristics and Omega.
His plenary lecture introduced a mathematical optimization model for crop planning under long term supply agreements, where agricultural producers must meet predefined production quantities within strict delivery deadlines. The proposed approach employed a biobjective lexicographic model, first minimizing production costs and subsequently reducing the risk of failing to meet contractual demand through geographical diversification. The presentation demonstrated how quantitative decision-making methods can support more reliable agricultural production planning and supply chain management.
We were pleased to welcome Prof. Dr. Adenso-Díaz as a plenary speaker and sincerely appreciate his contribution to the scientific programme.
